The following has been excerpted from an e-mail sent by Scott Youngs, patron of the Whitewater Park, during a public special event:
"I can say that having that ramp down to the water was truly awesome and necessary for a smooth program. The water level on that day allowed me to paddle right on to the ramp and transfer directly into my wheelchair. Doing that by myself without having to crawl or be carried up the riverbank was empowering. This activity was a perfect example of inclusion at its best. Regardless of what your abilities were, a great experience was provided. I saw a person who was blind, people in chairs, severe and not so severe disabilities, developmental disabilities, guides and volunteers ... and all of them had a smile on their faces."
