General Description
The Lanier Mansion State Historic Site includes the home and grounds of James F.D. Lanier, one of the most influential figures in Indiana during the 19th century. Structures on the grounds include the two-and-one-half, story, 1844 brick Mansion, a 1968 brick visitor center, a maintenance garage, formal gardens, lawns, a small Civil War Memorial and a small wooden storage shed.
