Unified Sports is a program that combines approximately equal numbers of Special Olympics athletes with athletes without intellectual disabilities(partners) on sports teams for training and competition. Age and ability of athletes and partners is specifically defined on a sport by sport basis.

Special Olympics Kentucky offers Unified Events in the following sports:

• Aquatics (Relay Events - must have equal number of athletes & partners)
• Bowling (Team - one athlete and one partner)
• Golf (Team - one athlete and one partner)
• Equestrian Relays (Relay Events - must have equal number of athletes and partners)
• Cheerleading (Minimum number on squad would be 5; three athletes and two partners)
• Track & Field (Relay Events - must have equal number of athletes and partners)
