  • Clean the house together; it can be great exercise.

  • Play arts and crafts with different items such as construction paper, pipe cleaners, cotton balls, markers, etc. Let your kids’ imaginations go wild!

  • Make decorations for an upcoming holiday.

  • Play hide and seek in the house.

  • Turn the radio on and let the kids have a dance party.

  • Play Twister.

  • Build an obstacle course in the basement and let the kids come up with the different route to follow.

  • Make hand puppets out of old socks or brown lunch bags, then put on a puppet show.

  • Make an exercise video of the family exercises.

  • Play a game of charades.

  • Read a story and have the kids act it out as you read.

  • Make your own musical instruments. Make a shaker by filling an empty paper towel roll with dried beans and sealing the ends with tape. Make a guitar with an empty Kleenex box and attach rubber bands. Let the kids put on a concert.
  • Take the family to the grocery store; it involves lots of walking and rolling and everyone can help pick out some nutritious snacks.

  • If your kids enjoy videogames, incorporate some physical activity with them, such as stationery bikes that are coordinated with the screen action.

  • Take a trip to the local museum or mall. This also involves lots of walking or rolling.

  • Play board games.

  • Let your child help in the preparing dinner or in baking something for dessert.
