Summer days are filled with friends and fun in the sun. But did you ever think that what you were eating could have a negative effect on how much fun you were having? Well it could! The foods we eat play a role in how we feel each day depending on whether we have eaten too much, not enough, or whether we have chosen the right foods for our body. Summer might also be a great time for you to work on your sports skills before the new season starts. Kids Korner, For the Parents:  Learning to Swim

For kids and adults alike, time spent in the water provides some of the best summer memories. But if your child doesn’t know how to swim, they may be missing out on the fun. You may have assumed that because your child has a disability he or she is unable to swim, but you might be surprised to learn that is probably not the case. Your child’s stroke may not look textbook, but it can be his or her way of moving in and through the water independently.

Can you believe it is July? I like to think of July as the middle month. It’s the middle of the year, the middle of summer with the longest days of the year, and the middle of summer vacation from school.  The 4th of July may be a national holiday remembering the birth of the United States, but it is also means there is still half of this year to enjoy being physically active.
