"Fitness Forever: The Exercise Program for Healthy Aging" video features Nancy Swayzee, MES, ACSM Health/Fitness instructor and five members of the Tahoe Forest Hospital's Fitness Forever class, in an exercise program performed to big band music and against the spectacular backdrop of Lake Tahoe. The program and instruction is easy to follow and to understand, it is organized well, and the layout of exercise routines is excellent.
The instructor initially begins by discussing precautions and considerations for beginning and maintaining an exercise program, i.e., contacting a physician to review the target heart rate. She underscores the importance of exercise and notes that inactivity causes physical restrictions, and not age as many people assume. Modifications and adaptations are offered with people sitting and standing while exercising at beginner to advanced levels. Functional movement/exercise suggestions and carryover to daily activities are suggested throughout the exercise program.
