Abstract

At 14, Allison Pitman had her left leg amputated above the knee due to cancer. Rather than indulging in self-pity, Allison, who attributes her attitude to family and faith, concentrated on sport. She is a national record holder in swimming, she is preparing for the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta, and she has completed her first full triathlon
