Abstract
Packet provides basic information on age-related changes and their implications for adults with developmental disabilities and their families. Topics include: the aging process and its implications; supporting individual choice and community membership; and engaging and supporting older families in making future plans for their relative with a disability. It contains guidelines and practical suggestions for supporting individual choice and community membership, healthy aging and family future planning. The packet consists of the following monographs: (1) Growing Older with a Developmental Disability: Physical and Cognitive Changes and Their Implications; (2) Guidelines for Promoting Choices and Options in the Community for Older Adults with Developmental Disabilities; and (3) Planning for the Future: Aging Parents and their Adult Children. The monographs are located separately in the NARIC collection under accession numbers O16103, O16104, and O16105, respectively.
