Abstract
Volume compiles information presented at the 8th European Conference for the Advancement of Assistive Technology on behalf of the Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe (AAATE). The theme “From Virtuality to Reality” was inspired by the difficulty encountered in getting the assistive technology (AT) research and development carried out by laboratories to the users. The papers are organized into chapters reflecting the following topics: user centered approaches to design for all, AT and older people, new technologies and innovation, user involvement, access to the information society, biomechanics, smart homes, service delivery, AAC, AT for rehabilitation, AT for visual impairment, product development, control systems for mobility, cognitive impairment and autism, education and training, AT for mobility, AT for support and care, Web accessibility, AT for play and involvement, robotics, hearing impairment, human-machine interaction, computer access, outcomes in AT, and assessment and evaluation.
