The University of Illinois Wheelchair Sports Camps are open to individuals aged 12 and up for the track camp, and 19 and under for the basketball camps, who have physical disabilities in the lower extremities. The camps are physically demanding and rigorous, with an average of 8 to 9 hours of sport-specific training each day.
All campers must be capable of independently performing activities of daily living. During the camp, all campers will stay in a University of Illinois residence hall with meals provided by the residence hall dining rooms. The camps are staffed by some of the top wheelchair athletes and coaches in the world. The University of Illinois head wheelchair basketball teams coach and the head track team coach will develp the curriculum for their respective camps.
Track camp: Athletes who are interested in improving their track, road racing and handcycling skills should plan to attend this camp.
Age Group Camp: Individual Skills Camp is open to youth between the ages of 12-19 who are looking to improve their fundamental basketball skills.
Elite Camp: Elite camp participants will be selected from coach recommendations.
Team Camp: Youths who are interested in improving their wheelchair basketball knowledge and skills should attend these camps. Contact your coach for information regarding attending Team Camp with your team.
