NCHPAD - Building Healthy Inclusive Communities

From the Editor’s Desk: Paralympic Inspiration

Paralympians can motivate us to be more fully active, and to not be afraid to push our comfort zones. In this issue, we feature one such Paralympian – a former NCHPAD employee. We’ll also provide global broadband webcast coverage information, as the games begin March 10.

Just in time for the gardening season, we are proud to feature our new virtual gardening tour, with information on accessible paving, containers, raised beds, and vertical gardens.

Other highlights include a new column on secondary condition prevention, information on body mass index (BMI) for persons with disabilities, tips on budget shopping for healthy foods, and a new article on congestive heart failure and exercise.

Have a healthy month! Please contact the editor, Jennifer Gray-Stanley, with any comments or suggestions at jegray@uic.edu.
