NCHPAD Book Corner: Military in-Step

In partnership with the United States Army Patient Care program, the Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) has published Military in-Step, a full-color, 98-page publication aimed at meeting the informational needs of returning military personnel with service-related amputations. This is based on ACA's award-winning publication, First Step: A Guide for Adapting to Limb Loss, for the new amputee.

Subjects include the military amputee, post-amputation care, the prosthesis, the rehabilitation process, the military benefits system, and sports and recreation. Personal experience stories demonstrate how the new military amputee can rebuild his or her life.

Hard copies are only available to military personnel through the Walter Reed or Brooke Army Medical Centers, but the publication may be downloaded as a PDF through the Amputee Coalition of America's website at http://www.amputee-coalition.org/military-instep/index.html
