From the Editor's Desk: Time's-A-Falling Back - But Not You

Depending on where you call home, it may or may not feel like fall yet- but most everyone has had to adjust their clocks, or "fall back" as the saying goes. See this month's IS Corner for NCHPAD articles on balance and fall prevention exercises to assure that the only thing falling this season is the leaves from the trees! Read our Your Writes column to find out how exercise can benefit persons with Meniere's disease, a condition which affects the inner ear and can result in dizziness and balance problems.

And what about your back this fall? Also featured in the IS Corner this month are articles containing strategies on how to help maintain a healthy back. This issue's Emerging Evidence in Health and Disability reports findings on the association between higher physical activity and less lower back pain in older adults. Interested in learning more about taking care of your back? Don't hesitate to contact NCHPAD at 1-800-900-8086, and we will send you more resources. Remember - NCPAD's always here to back you up!

Send your questions and comments to Cheeri Ong, Interim NCHPAD News Editor, at cheeri@uic.edu.
