- Doesn't slide up over the neck or head
- Doesn't restrict movement
- Has the appropriate flotation to keep the individual's head above water level
- Shows no evidence of wear
There are five types of PFDs; each is designed with a particular purpose in mind. The U. S. Coast Guard tests and approves PFDs for safety. Only those PFDs that are approved should be considered for use.
