Job Announcement - Project Manager of Sports for Life Angola


Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation (VVAF) is an international humanitarian organization headquartered in Washington, DC, with programs in Vietnam, Cambodia, Kosovo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Angola, and Central America. VVAF aids victims of war through advocacy and humanitarian assistance. They are seeking a Project Manager for a newly funded project in the Department of Humanitarian Affairs. Under the general supervision of the Angola Country Director, the Project Manager will implement the Angola Sports for Life program. This will include hiring and training local staff to work on issues related to sports, disability, and advocacy; implementing on-going sports and recreation and advocacy activities; collaborating with VVAF rehabilitation staff in Luena to insure that sports and recreation are incorporated as a regular part of VVAF?s rehabilitation activities; establishing good relationships with local, national, and international stakeholders and facilitating dialogue on issues of persons with disabilities in Angola; coordinating special events; conducting advocacy activities; expanding sports and advocacy programming in Angola. This position will require significant experience in disability sports and a thorough understanding of disability rights and advocacy issues, excellent interpersonal skills, five years of relevant work experience, preferably in developing or post-conflict countries.
