From the Editor's Desk: How Did You Spend Your Summer Vacation?

As we enter the last days of summer, we provide you with tips on enjoying an active and inclusive family vacation. Get additional ideas for fitness and recreation with our new Flash video collection featuring people with disabilities and chronic health conditions engaged in a variety of exercises, sports, and recreational activities.

We roll out a new series in our Secondary Conditions column on the topic of pain, and highlight a research article on breathing techniques and the effects of exercise on cardiopulmonary responses in persons with spinal cord injury. Other features include a review of best practices for adaptive golf with Project GAIN, a book review on yoga for children with autism spectrum disorders, the GAME cycle exercise device, and nutritional advice for people with spinal muscular atrophy.

Please send your comments to Jennifer Gray-Stanley, NCHPAD News Editor, at jegray@uic.edu.
