From the Editor's Desk: New Year, New You?


We all say it: "this year I'm going to . . .". However you complete the sentence, and whether or not you have a disability, it often involves doing something to improve an aspect of one's health. Increasing minutes of daily activity, losing extra pounds, increasing water intake, or reducing the impact of secondary conditions are all important goals. Fitness professionals may read this month's Director's Column to gain insight into the theory behind behavior change, and possibly obtain knowledge that would help them assist clients with and without disabilities in reaching their New Year's goals. In addition, this month's Secondary Conditions column discusses a non-traditional form of exercise that many people with disabilities may enjoy using to decrease the effects of fatigue on their daily lives. Whatever your goal may be and however you choose to achieve it, best of luck - and let us know how it goes!!
