About Us

Founded in 1999, the National Center on Physical Activity and Disability works to promote health benefits among people with disabilities and health conditions through increased participation in all types of physical activity. These may include recreational programs, specific sports, exercise techniques, fitness activities, adaptive equipment, and more.

NCPAD is the premier resource for information on physical activity, health promotion, and disability. We empower people with disabilities and health conditions to become healthier and more active. Our primary objectives are 1) to increase awareness of the importance of physical activity for people with disabilities; 2) to consolidate existing information and author resources on physical activity and disability and make this collection of materials available to consumers, practitioners, and various disability and physical activity organizations; and 3) to increase participation in physical activity among people with disabilities.
