Exercise and Rehabilitation Engineering/Technology Specialist Position Opening

The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Recreation Technology (RERC RecTech) seeks qualified candidates for a full-time project coordinator who will work closely with the Director and Associate Directors to operate the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Recreational Technologies and Exercise Physiology Benefiting Persons with Disabilities, funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).

The successful candidate will be responsible for all rehabilitation engineering aspects of the Center, such as designing new equipment and retrofitting existing equipment for recreation and fitness for people with disabilities, facilitating the correspondence and collaboration with all project staff, publishing articles related to the research conducted, participating in the development and instruction of a graduate-level exercise and recreation technology course, and networking within the professional community and private industry.

The candidate must have a minimum of a Master?s degree with a Ph.D. or ABD (All But Dissertation) preferred in the appropriate engineering or rehabilitation field. In addition, 1 to 5 years' experience in a similar setting, administering one or more components of a similar project and demonstrated research or academic abilities is highly recommended.

Tenured Position in Disability Studies

The University of Toledo invites applications for a tenured position (full or associate professor rank) in Disability Studies beginning in fall 2004. Salary is commensurate with qualifications. A Ph.D. is required, and the successful candidate must be a specialist in Disability Studies, preferably with a strong background in disability rights activism.

Health Educator Position, Santa Fe, New Mexico

The Health Systems Bureau Office of Disability and Health is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Health Promotion Specialist. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for implementing health promotion interventions for people with disabilities throughout New Mexico. A Bachelor?s degree in health education or another health field, as well as 3 years' experience in health education activities and 2 years' experience working with disability issues is preferred.
