Fibromyalgia (FM), or fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) as it is sometimes called, is a complex condition that causes persistent pain in muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints. In addition to chronic widespread pain, this syndrome may cause other symptoms, including fatigue, disturbed sleep, and headaches.
This monograph reviews the prevalence of the condition, a brief overview of some research on exercise and fibromyalgia, and a few suggestions on developing an exercise program for someone with this condition.
