Video Corner: Breaking New Ground at Club Industry

For the first time, Club Industry 2008, the premiere event for commercial fitness and nutrition, featured a specialized track on inclusive fitness as well as incorporating the "Inclusive Fitness Zone" in the Exhibit Hall which showcased equipment that has been developed in partnership with equipment manufacturers to meet the needs of people with and without disabilities. NCHPAD had the opportunity to film presenter Karin Korb leading a Kranking fitness class. Karin, who has used a wheelchair since a gymnastics vaulting accident as a teenager, is a former Paralympian, certified personal trainer, and creator of "Disabled Divas." Go to this month's Video Corner to watch footage of Karin sharing her story and transformation after her injury, from an outsider disassociated from "her population" (of people with disabilities) into an energetic advocate and activist within the community of athletes with disabilities.
