The following account was written by Jenny Carlton, a student intern at NCHPAD who is completing her graduate degree in rehabilitation counseling at Kent State University in Ohio. Here, Jenny reflects on her experience as a person with a disability trying downhill skiing for the first time. She now highly recommends it to others!

I can remember it like it was yesterday. Ready to face the crisp air with my boots on, I prepared myself even more to embark on a new challenge. The word excitement barely captured the moment. If people only knew what a momentous occasion this was for me!
