The VERB Campaign: Youth Leading Healthy Lifestyles

In June 2002, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) launched an integrated youth media campaign, VERB, aimed at assisting tweens (youth age 9-13) to lead healthy lifestyles. Other important audiences for the project are parents and adult influencers, including teachers, youth leaders, physical education and health professionals, pediatricians, health care providers, coaches ? and more.

VERB's goals include increasing knowledge and improving attitudes and beliefs about tweens? regular participation in physical activity, increasing parental and influencer support and encouragement of tweens? participation in physical activity, facilitating opportunities for tweens to participate in regular physical activity, as well as advertising, campaign partnerships, research, community events, and other VERB communications.

From October 26 thru November 21, VERB is launching its second seasonal promotion, "Extra Hour For Extra Action." This multi-week VERB promotion begins October 26th, the day the clocks turn back and kids have an extra hour to get active. Participants are needed to get kids moving with this action-packed promotion that offers children special rewards and recognition for physical activity.
