- The inaugural Active Aging Week ran September 29 through October 5. Jazzercise, the world's leading dance-fitness program, and the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) are spearheading this project to boost awareness of the importance of physical activity for older adults. Fitness and wellness facilities across the United States will team up with local Jazzercise instructors to offer free Simply Lite fitness classes, a light version of the original Jazzercise program. - NCHPAD Information Specialists attended and exhibited at the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) conference in Atlanta, September 12-16. Recreation therapists throughout the United States attended the conference to gain knowledge and explore strengthening outcomes and opportunities in therapeutic recreation. NCHPAD provided attendees with resources and information on physical activity, recreation, disability, health conditions and more, and can provide information materials for your organization, conference, workshop or program.
