NCHPAD - Building Healthy Inclusive Communities

APHA Annual Meeting and Exposition, November 9-13, 2002


The American Public Health Annual Meeting and Exposition, entitled, "Putting the Public Back Into Public Health," will be held from November 9-13, 2002 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Disability Forum will offer a variety of scientific and poster sessions pertaining to health and disability.

Scientific sessions will focus on community barriers, disability policy, health promotion and wellness, secondary conditions, disability classification, barriers to participation, and health and well-being for women with disabilities. Sessions on health promotion and wellness will include updates on the NCHPAD programs database, usage of fitness and recreation facilities, and a home physical activity program. Poster sessions will include the topic areas of barriers and facilitators to participation, health and disability, and disability potpourri, which will feature posters on community-based solutions for promoting physical activity for people with disabilities and perceptions of health and physical activity in adults with physical disabilities.
