The fitness manufacturing industry needs to look no farther than the telecommunications industry to understand how far they have fallen behind in making their equipment user- and disability-friendly to the growing transgenerational market, which includes people with disabilities, chronic health conditions, seniors, and persons with sports and work-related injuries. Cell phones and PDAs are becoming so personalized that in a few years, they will be doing everything from starting your car to baking a loaf of bread. It's time for fitness manufacturers to begin thinking "outside the box" on how their equipment can be used by all.
