From the Editor's Desk: Summer Vitality

This month we kick off the summer season with a host of features for improved physical activity and overall health and vitality.

First, don't miss the launch of MyNCPAD, a new site with tools and guidance to help you plan - and stick with - your personalized physical activity program.

Dr. Rimmer highlights the magic of dance for children with cerebral palsy, and we also provide you with a new video clip on Ai Chi, a water-based total body strengthening and relaxation progression that bridges Eastern and Western philosophies, and integrates mental, physical, and spiritual energy.

Greta Neimanas discusses how her involvement in adapted sports has allowed her to travel worldwide and meet many inspiring individuals, we continue our discussion on osteoporosis as a secondary condition, and our FITT column series focuses on what exercise professionals can learn from their clients.

We also provide a new factsheet on strengthening exercises, a book review on exercise therapy for persons with cancer, and a research review on the effects of an aerobic exercise program on functional and neuromotor performance of older adults. Our nutrition corner also presents a variety of creative ways to incorporate more vegetables and fruits into your diet.

Please send your comments to Jennifer Gray-Stanley, NCHPAD News Editor, at jegray@uic.edu.
