The StepWatch Activity Monitor (SAM) is a highly accurate, unobtrusive instrument worn on the ankle. It continuously records number of steps per minute for 6-8 weeks between downloads. More and less frequent recording intervals are supported.

The time-sequenced data allow patterns of activity and rest to be visualized in great detail. Analyses are automated and interpretation of results is intuitive. The "smarts" of the SAM are sealed within a durable, waterproof case. No maintenance is required. The battery supports a minimum of 7 years of continuous use.

The SAM has been used to assess the activity of persons with a variety of disabilities and chronic conditions, including cardiovascular and orthopedic problems, diabetes, prosthetic issues, and many more.
