From the Information Specialist's Desk: NCHPAD Blog .. Finally! And More

Endless CapABILITIES, a new blog from NCPAD

Have you ever hoped for a site where you could talk openly about all things relating to disability, health, physical activity, and more? Or a single source you could access to find out about the latest news relating to these topics?

Welcome to Endless CapABILITIES, a new blog from the National Center on Health, Physical Activity, and Disability. Our mission is to generate dialogue in an informal setting regarding issues related to physical activity, health, and/or various disabilities. While NCHPAD is primarily focused on promoting participation in physical activity by people with disabilities and educating consumers and professionals about best practices and safe methods of exercise, this site will be dedicated to bringing you news, opinions, personal stories, the latest in research, and more.

Our current group of writers is a diverse collection of individuals, all writing from different perspectives. We want to know what you think about our articles and ask that as readers you provide feedback through comments, re-posting on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, "liking" the posts, etc. And of course, if you ever want to write for us ... LET US KNOW! We are always looking for new writers and new opinions.

Check us out at http://blog.ncpad.org to find out more!

Lights, Camera, Action! Calling for Video Participants

Are you in the Chicago area? NCHPAD is looking for people of ALL abilities who would like to be in our video clips. The themes of our videos are all about being physically active and healthy. We believe physical activity and exercise is for everyone! Whether you're brand-new to exercise or a regular, it does not matter. Anyone is welcome! So, if you're interested in being in our videos, please contact us at email@ncpad.org or call us at 800-900-8086.

Coming Soon: NCHPAD Video Contest

Being physically active is good for every body. This is especially true for people with disabilities who tend to participate in less physical activity, carry excess weight, and have higher rates of chronic heart disease and other health conditions. NCHPAD is sponsoring a video contest entitled, "How do you get enough?" The intention of this video contest is to illustrate to society that people with disabilities do live healthy active lifestyles as well as share various ways to get physical activity for individuals with disabilities and activity limitations. For more information, please call Melissa at 312-355-4540 or email mmccal1@uic.edu.
