NCHPAD New Document: Stepping in the Right Direction: The Development of a Functional Walking Program


Kerry Wiley has always been challenged by movement and coordination, having been diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy at birth. In 2006, she began a journey to improve her walking that would change how she perceived physical and personal limits and her vision of who she could be, and would ultimately change her views about what is possible. This multifaceted article offers perspectives from both the client and the trainers involved in the development of the functional walking program, thereby providing insight into what it takes to create that synergy and partnership between client and trainer that can ultimately create functional and meaningful successes.
