Exercise and physical fitness are important components of a healthy lifestyle, and this is especially true for individuals with autism since it has been reported that they have low levels of physical fitness. It is important to develop exercise programs at a level comfortable to the individual and to gradually increase the exercise intensity and duration as his/her cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility levels improve.
