International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health, Atlanta, GA, April 17-20, 2006

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Physical Activity and Health Branch, in partnership with the Association of State and Territorial Chronic Disease Program Directors, is sponsoring this conference to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the release of the U.S. Surgeon General's Report on Physical Activity and Health. This conference will create an interactive forum for researchers and practitioners to communicate about current work and advances in the science and practice of physical activity and public health. Dr. Rimmer, Amy Rauworth, and Valerie Lawson of NPCAD will be presenting at this conference.

National Symposium on Playground Access, Bloomington, IN, April 18-20, 2006

The National Center on Accessibility at Indiana University will host a National Symposium on Playground Access at the Indiana Memorial Union in the heart of the Bloomington campus. This symposium is geared toward public playground owners/operators, NPSI Certified Playground Safety Inspectors, park and recreation professionals, school administrators, designers, parents, and advocates for the inclusion of children with disabilities.

Adaptive Fitness, Sports, and Recreation for Persons with Disabilities, Chicago, IL, May 22, 2006

Survivor Harbor 7, Baltimore, MD, June 11, 2006

Established in 2004 by the Active Survivors Network with a grant from the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the Survivor Harbor 7 is the first run/walk race with an opportunity for Survivors of any illness to compete in an organized event within a Survivor division.
