This study assesses the validity and responsiveness of the Spinal Cord Index of Function, which is a new instrument designed to measure the capacity of a person with SCL to perform various transfers as instructed by a physiotherapist. A total of 29 participants with spinal cord lesions were recruited and were evaluated every second week by a physiotherapist with the Spinal Cord Index of Function and the Swedish physiotherapy clinical outcome variables (S-COVS). The S-COVS includes clinical outcome variables such as walking and arm function. The two measures were found to be highly correlated, which indicated the Spinal Cord Index of Function to be a valid and responsive instrument.
