The National Disability Sports Conference, Athens, GA, March 10-13, 2006

NCPAD’s partner, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), will be presenting workshops on NCPAD.

Note also that a new track will be added for using sports in the rehabilitation of the more than 13,000 American soldiers who have recently become disabled in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.

International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health, Atlanta, GA, April 17-20, 2006

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Physical Activity and Health Branch, in partnership with the Association of State and Territorial Chronic Disease Program Directors, is sponsoring this conference to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the release of the U.S. Surgeon General’s Report on Physical Activity and Health; create a forum for researchers and practitioners to interact; and provide a venue for focused communication about current work and advances in the science and practice of physical activity and public health. NCHPAD staff has been invited to present a platform paper on exercise and physical activity for people with disabilities.

VISTA Conference, Bonn, Germany, May 6-7, 2006

This conference will provide a forum for exchange on current information, research initiatives, and expertise related to classification in Paralympic Sport and the Paralympic Movement, as well as enhance and promote cross-disciplinary professional interaction among sport scientists, coaches, classifiers, athletes, and sport administrators.
