NCHPAD Online Personal Trainer’s Database
1) NCHPAD is now featuring an online database for locating personal fitness training services available for people with disabilities or chronic health conditions. If you are a personal trainer who would like to be added to this national database, go to http://www.ncpad.org/directories/19/Personal~Trainers to complete an online survey or contact Cheeri Ong at cheeri@uic.edu to request a mailed survey. For those in search of personal trainer services, click on http://www.ncpad.org/directories/19/Personal~Trainers to find a trainer in your area.

Healthy Weight Week
2) Participate in Healthy Weight Week (http://www.healthyweightnetwork.com) and use NCHPAD resources to guide your health promotion program.

Ski for All
3) See the Ski for All website at http://www.skiforall.org/, for information on a plethora of activities, volunteer opportunities, and camps for persons with disabilities, including winter activities such as snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross country, and downhill skiing, as well as cycling, hiking, in-line skating, river rafting, canoeing and kayaking, day camps, water skiing, rock-climbing, camping, and more.

Australian Government Reimburses Exercise Physiologists
4) Starting this month, exercise physiologists are among the allied health professionals who can receive Medicare reimbursement from serving persons with chronic and complex illnesses, after referral from a general practitioner or primary health care plan. Go to http://www.health.gov.au for more information on the Australian government’s allied health measure.

MFA Works to Spread the Word
5) The Medical Fitness Association (MFA) will be collaborating with the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports (PCPFS) and the President's Challenge Physical Activity and Fitness Awards Program (President's Challenge). Through this collaboration, the Medical Fitness Association will complement and reinforce the physical activity/fitness/sports participation messages and programs of the Council to raise awareness of the benefits of physical activity and fitness for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
